Nathan Coflin's ingenious petition to have a Confederate monument in Portsmouth, Virginia replaced with a statue of Missy Elliott has already received over 30,000 signatures! I have yet to hear a convincing argument as to why keeping these statues in public areas is anything resembling a good idea. I'd much rather honor someone whose singular voice has produced artistic daring for over two decades rather than an ideology that has continued to spread hatred and ignorance for well over a century. There's no downside to this becoming a reality!
